The Text
Romans 2:6-10 He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. For God shows no partiality.
Some Comments
Outside the payment of our sins applied by Grace alone and accepted by faith alone, our judgment will be applied by God according to our works.
Some have taken this to mean that those who aren't "as bad" as others will have a less severe judgement than those who are "more bad". I can't find anything in scripture to substantiate this thought, but if it is true, I'm sure that there won't be anyone in hell saying, "This isn't so bad after all. I'm glad I wasn't as bad as so and so." Outside of Salvation, our righteousness is as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:4).
The most important take away from this passage is that God is not partial between his chosen people the Jews and the rest of the Gentile world. Each of us has the same opportunities to do good or do evil to a certain extent, but all of us need salvation through Jesus.
