Core Discipleship
The Dying Church
The Church, in America, of the 20th century has enjoyed boundless freedoms spanning from the ability to freely preach and distribute it's message in all forms of media to the government sanctioned tax shelters. While the beginning of the century saw great revival, the subsequent years saw a growing apathy by it's members and an even greater indulgence in internal excess.
Gone was the outreach towards lost souls and in came the loud choirs and praise teams, youth groups, coffee corners, concession stands and book clubs. No longer was there a need for the members of the Church to use their gifts because the colleges and seminaries were pumping out "Professional Christians" at an unsustainable rate.

Now in the 21st century, we hear the whispers of the impending death of the Church like the whisteling of the wind through an old growth forrest. We sit mute in our pews each Sunday while our praise bands try to entertain us, and the newest video is played on the overhead projector.
What to do? What to do?
There is no program out there to be implemented that in and of itself can save a dying local church, other than the quickening of the heart of The Church. God will not create a change in our heart until we humble ourselves before Him and surrender our will so He can do His will through us.
